FFA Holds Activities on Earth Day 2012

UNITY COLLEGE – Unity’s FFA students set up a booth at the annual Earth Day Celebration on April 21, 2012. The booth consisted of an activity titled “Plant Seeds with FFA” and a cat carrier containing two chickens.
Treasurer Oliver Loud-Stubbs, Member Taylor Follette, and
Vice President Shayne Van Leer Help a Student
Students and visitors at the celebration lined up  to plant rosemary, chives, thyme, basil, chamomile, or oregano in paper cups to take with them. This activity allowed participants to experience planting seeds and get their hands dirty on Earth Day.

The chickens presented at the booth are two of the thirty-six broilers Unity’s FFA and Waldo County Technical Center’s FFA are currently raising to be donated for the Volunteer Regional Food Pantry located in Unity, ME and the Belfast Soup Kitchen in Belfast, ME.
